CONSULTATION

Your journey with us begins with an initial consultation where the root cause of your ill health/diseases/imbalances will be diagnosed. The consultation determines the individual’s dosha (body constitution) three principal energies of the body: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. According to Ayurveda, diseases arise when these doshas become unbalanced because of an external or internal stimulus linked to diet, stress, lifestyle, exercise, or other such factors.

The initial consultation involves three parts:

  • Observation (Darshan): The practitioner first evaluates general physical health by looking at the patient and observing his/her movements, body contour, the colour of the skin and eyes, facial lines and ridges, shape of the nose, and qualities of the lips, hair, and nails.
  • Touch (Sparsha): The practitioner then employs touch, including palpation, pressing down on parts of the body )sparshanam), auscultation, which is listening for sounds made by the internal organs (shrvanaa), and percussion or tapping (akotana). There is a special focus on the patient's pulse, tongue, nails, and speech. (If necessary, laboratory testing is also included under this category)
  • Questions (Prashna): The practitioner asks the patient about complaints and symptoms, as well as the duration of discomfort and disease progression. The practitioner also inquires about mental and psychological conditions

This process provides you clarity about what is happening in your body and how to improve it naturally. After understanding your body type, and the imbalance of doshas, you will be recommended lifestyle guidelines including diet, exercise, home remedies and self-massage techniques. If needed, we will advise you on the ayurvedic medication, its effect and the duration of consumption required. The type and duration of Ayurvedic treatments and Ayurvedic detox therapies known as Panchakarma may also be recommended as needed. According to the intensity of the imbalance and severity of symptoms, periodical assessments may be required via follow-up consultations.

An Ayurvedic initial consultation can help you to naturally bring your mind, body and spirit back into balance. You can learn practices to decrease stress and increase overall vitality and well-being.
